`````` is always placed at the top of the document. *Element* is the word for a particular piece of HTML code. CSS class names should begin with a punctuation mark. CSS classes go inside the opening tag. Elements that don't have a closing tag are called "empty tags". The *rel* attribute stands for *relationship*, and indicates the relationship the linked file has to the current document. The *href* attribute stands for *hypertext reference* and is used to point the document to the required file. Element *height* and *width* can be denoted in *pixels* (always add **px** when doing so), or *percentages* (always add **%** when doing so). A CSS *rule* or *ruleset* begins with a *selector*, followed by opening and closing curly brackets. The brackets contain a *declaration* which consists of a *property*-*value* pair. A rule can contain multiple declarations. CSS rule example; ```html h1 { background-color: blue; color: pink; } ``` Attempt to minimise the filesize of your website as much as possible to maximise loading speeds. SVG images are ideal for use in web design due to their scaling property.
